 DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO CANCUN / VALLADOLID

Flight to Cancun. Airport reception and transfer to Valladolid.

DAY 2: VALLADOLID / CHICHEN ITZA / MERIDA

Breakfast.
Departure to Chichen Itza, one of the most extensive and best preserved in Mexico where the spectacular ruins extends over 300 hectares. The Kukulcan pyramid "El Castillo", influence dominates the ancient Maya city of Chichen Itza which is adjacent to the Sacred Cenote, a huge natural well which gives access to the groundwater located about twenty feet below. The Maya would drop the offerings to the gods worshiped.
Lunch with presentation of folk dances (Jarana).

Continue to Merida.
Guided tour of the city of Merida to visit the Cathedral, the Palacio de Gobierno, where you can admire the frescoes, the Plaza Mayor and the Paseo Montejo (great avenue where you can admire the old colonial mansions dating from the turn of the century). Visit the covered market (except Sundays) featuring articles of sisal (henequen), including hammocks but also huipils embroidery, jewelry and weavings.

DAY 3: MERIDA / UXMAL / MERIDA

 
Breakfast.
Free time to explore the city at your own pace, on foot or by carriage to explore the shops and indoor market.
Departure to Uxmal, more elegant Mayan city of the peninsula.
Lunch specialties Yucatan (you will have the opportunity to taste the pollo pibil: chicken cooked in the earth braised in banana leaves) in a traditional restaurant with waitresses in local costume.
Visit the archaeological site considered by some as one of the Seven Wonders of the World because of its location amidst an exceptional natural setting. You will notice the excellent preservation of all buildings of the Classic Maya civilization.
Then you will witness the spectacle "Sound and Light."
Return to Merida.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
 
DAY 4: MERIDA / Izamal / EKBALAM / CANCUN

Breakfast.
Departure for Izamal where you can see through 2 buildings facing the Mayan culture to the Spanish culture. Izamal, "place of hills", was founded by a sky god, Itzamna. His body was divided into 3 parts and each part was buried in one of the 3 hills of the city. On each of these temples were erected, the most important thing was dedicated to the god-sun-Kinich Kakmo. Later, the Spanish built the Convent of San Antonio Padua, which has the largest atrium in the world after that of St. Peter's.
Lunch.
The city of Ekbalam, whose name means "Black Jaguar", was discovered only recently. This religious center built by the Maya presents features such as dual chamber that is not found anywhere else. You enter by Arco Mayor, one of the gates oriented along the cardinal points. The centerpiece of the site is the pyramid called Acropolis, peaking at 30 meters, it contains cavities and parts connected by numerous stairs. From the top it is even possible to see the tops of the pyramids of Coba and Chichen Itza.
